Mamoru Oshii Kamui Fujiwaras Next Manga Are Out

Two brand new manga have been released onto the app store by Comic Animation. Chimamire Mai Love (Blood-Stained Mai Love) by Mamoru Oshii and Gin-iro no Usagi  (Silver Rabbit) by Kamui Fujiwara are the latest to hit the Japanese and American IOS app store.

Both are readily available for download in english, and the app itself is free of charge. But the chapters themselves will cost $2.99 to purchase. Both apps feature the traditional manga art and a new animation feature, exclusive to the device’s touchscreen.

Chimamire Mai Love revolves around a timid second-year high school student who finds a kindred spirit in Mai, a girl he meets via a blood donation site. Mai is actually a vampire, and the comedy follows the boy’s madcap efforts to get blood donations for her.

Mamoru Oshii, most notably know for is part as director in the Ghost in the Shell film franchise, created and directed Chimamire Mai Love. Scriptwriter Kei Yamamura, character designer Hidari (Natsu-iro Kiseki, Sasami-san@Ganbaranai), and directors Uta Mizuno and Romanov Higa (Catblue: Dynamite, TANK S.W.A.T. 01) are also credited in producing the manga alongside Oshii.

Gin-iro no Usagi follows a boy who wakes up in the world of Japanese mythological creatures (ayakashi). On top of that, he himself has been transformed into a one-eyed boy with super long-distance vision. His adventure begins when he sees a “gin-iro no usagi” being attacked and tries to help.

Atsushi Kubo, whom has done the art for the Dragon Quest manga, created Gin-iro no Usagi with artist Fujiwara and writer Kazunori Ito (Ghost in the Shell, .hack).
